   Ein neues Kinderbuch in drei Sprachen - A new children´s book in three languages

Kanélo lebt in Griechenland und ist ein prächtiger Hund mit zimtfarbenem Fell. Plötzlich gerät sein Leben aus der Bahn, denn als er gerade zwei Jahre alt ist, stirbt sein Besitzer. Zunächst sieht es nicht gut aus für Kanélos Zukunft, aber dann trifft er Freunde, die ihm Mut machen, und findet ein neues, glückliches Leben.

Dieses Buch will Kindern die Rolle eines Hundes als Mitglied der Familie nahebringen. Die Schwarz-Weiß-Illustrationen sollen die jungen Leser zum eigenen farbigen Gestalten einladen.

Auf dem von guten Kinderbüchern geradezu überschwemmten Büchermarkt ist es schwer, sich mit einem eigenen Titel durchzusetzen. Und von einem finanziellen "Gewinn" kann bei unserem Kinderbuch "Kanélo - eine griechische Hundegeschichte" - auch Dank Corona und den wirtschaftlichen Umständen - sowieso keine Rede sein. Daher haben wir, die Autorin und die Illustratorin, auch die Produktionskosten unter "geschenkt" verbucht und versuchen das Buch, so gut es geht, weiterhin unter die interessierten Leser zu bringen. Dies umso intensiver, als ja der gesamte Erlös dem Kefalonia Animal Trust - einer Tierhilfeorganisation - zugute kommt.Dennoch können wir stolz darauf sein, dass das dreisprachige Kinderbuch nicht nur in Griechenland, Deutschland, Österreich, der Schweiz, Luxemburg, Irland, Großbritannien und vielen anderen Europäischen Ländern gelesen wird, sondern sogar den Sprung über den Großen Teich geschafft hat. Auch in Kanada, den USA, Panama und Singapur haben Kinder schon viel Freude an dem Buch gehabt.

On the book market, which is almost flooded with good children's books, it is difficult to establish oneself with one's own title. And there can be no question of any financial "profit" with our children's book "Kanélo - a Greek dog story". This is also due to Corona and the economic circumstances. That's why we, the author and the illustrator, have waved any return of our production costs; and we rather try to get the book out to interested readers as best as we can. This is all the more important since the entire proceeds go to the Kefalonia Animal Trust - an animal aid organization.
Nevertheless, we can proudly report that the trilingual children's book is not only read in Greece, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Ireland, Great Britain and many other European countries, but has even made the leap across the "big pond". Children in Canada, the USA, Panama and Singapore have also had a lot of fun with the book.

What a wonderful book about Kanélo. My goodness, I had tears in my eyes the first time I read it. What a story! It is very obvious this beautifully crafted book was written by someone with a passionate love of all animals, especially dogs. A super book for children of all ages, including my 5, 7, 8 and 9 years old grandchildren. They love coming over and listening to me reading it to them.

The illustrator did a magnificent job with her drawings. I have never seen such obvious emotions on a dog´s face before. He expresses desperation, loneliness, sadness and finally perfect happiness on page 45.

Loved it and so did everyone who read it. All I can say is

Über Weihnachten waren unsere Enkel da, und wir haben endlich gemeinsam "Kanélo" gelesen. Ich hatte es ja sofort verschlungen, fand aber die drei Sprachen in einem Buch irritierend. Marie (10 Jahre alt) fand das aber total cool. In drei Sprachen - da kann man ja gleich was lernen! Die Geschichte las sich flott, die Bilder sind wunderschön. Gratulation, ein gelungenes Werk!

Die Illustratorin hat großartige Arbeit mit ihren Zeichnungen geleistet. Ich habe noch nie so offensichtliche Emotionen im Gesicht eines Hundes gesehen. Er drückt Verzweiflung, Einsamkeit, Traurigkeit und schließlich  auf Seite 45 vollkommenes Glück aus. Ich liebe das Buch, genauso wie alle, die es lasen - einschließlich meiner 5, 7, 8 und 9 Jahre alten Enkel.

Ο Κανέλος ζει στην Ελλάδα και είναι ένας υπέροχος σκύλος με κανελί χρώμα. Αλλά ξαφνικά, η ζωή του άλλαξε όταν ήταν μόλις δύο ετών γιατί, ο ιδιοκτήτης του πέθανε. Στην αρχή, το μέλλον του δεν φαινόταν πολύ φωτεινό. Τότε συναντά φίλους που τον ενθαρρύνουν, και βρήκε μια νέα, ευτυχισμένη ζωή.
